What We Do

  • Spotlight

Because effective and lasting change starts with education, we spotlight unique groups of people who are affected by climate change in distinct ways. We do this by rounding up the latest news of climate displacement all around the world. There are countless pressing situations that force people to seek refuge, but they are all equally important to recognize and share.

  • Educate

Our aim is to make sure the issues facing climate refugees are understood and acted upon. We educate people through our monthly Zoom events, where we talk about some of the latest news surrounding climate refugees, as well as how you can make an impact. Through workshops, activities, and presentations we hope to spread awareness while promoting your inner changemaker.

  • Advocate

We believe promoting public movements and calling for action plays a key role in shifting policy. Our organization is not only dedicated to changing the conversation about climate refugees but doing something about it. Through our campaigns and initiatives, we work to pressure lawmakers to act before it is too late. We demand global attention and efforts now!

  • Perspective

Within our efforts to spotlight this ignored problem, we strive to offer a variety of perspectives. Every few weeks we send out a newsletter that contains relevant articles and information on how climate change drives displacement, creates new threats, compounds crises, and limits human rights. We use primary sources and real-life accounts of people on the move.

  • Fundraise

As climate change worsens, and the planet brings more extreme weather patterns, it’s vital to look at those affected most by the increasingly frequent storms and floods. That’s why it is so crucial we act now before it is too late. Our organization sends all of our donations to UNHCR, so those on the frontlines can support refugees in danger, as well as prevent a new generation of climate migrants.

  • Resources

Along with working hard to provide adequate education, we also provide links to scientific research and to the latest news about climate refugees. This is such a critical topic that deserves more attention and action. Sign up for our newsletter to receive new information or go to the tab “Problem” to get some exceptional, recent, and informative resources.

How We Started

We are a group of young individuals who are passionate about climate issues, specifically climate refugees. After attending a 2-week intensive camp about global issues, we decided it was time to do something about climate change and its impact, but most fields had many organizations working towards them already. Our interest in human rights led us to climate refugees and we were shocked that this issue wasn’t gaining more representation and didn’t have many organizations working for it. We decided to do something about it and started Youth for Climate Migrants.
